Horse Liniment – Caring for Your Horse

May 31, 2016 By valentine Leave a Comment

Horse Liniment vs. Yoga for Flexibility

Horse liniment could keep your horse from injury. Horses can’t necessarily stretch or do yoga, so liniment is one of the only ways to help them relax their muscles and reduce swelling.

Yoga and horse liniment flexibility

Horses need to remain flexible but can’t do yoga…

There’s an innate truth to the adage that if you don’t bend, you’ll break. That’s probably why any self-loving adult practices yoga and why every trainer on the planet recommends stretching both before and after exercising: our muscles simply need to be stretched or we’ll be injured. However, while you’ve given no small amount of thought to proper stretching techniques in your lifetime, you probably haven’t given that same amount of consideration to the conditions of animals. Horses especially are made of similar muscles and ligaments as we are and theirs undergo no small amount of stress. Horses, for being so massive, are relatively fragile creatures.

Just as humans need to take care of their bodies after strenuous exercise, so do horses need proper care after they’ve had an especially rigorous day.

Reduce Swelling and Stiff Joints with Horse Liniment

While a feeding and brush-down can make a horse feel better, none of that affects horse ligaments. For horses in training, reducing swelling is especially important, as it can significantly alter the performance and aptitude the following day and can even lead to larger injuries. It’s especially important to use products that reduce swelling and bowed tendons for horses in training. W.F. Valentine has a liniment and tightener that can be safely used on horses in training as a daily treatment.

It greatly reduces swelling and stiff joints and alleviates the pain associated with strenuous exercise.

These kinds of treatments cool the muscles and provide effective relief. To use them, you’ll need to make sure the areas of swelling are clean, then rub in the tightener liberally and soak it into a thin piece of cottage that you’ll wrap around the affected area. The solution then has a chance to soak into the muscles and provide relief. Just like humans need extra help to recover from exercise, so too do horses need special treatment to help them conquer training and rigorous performances.
